I'm sorry to hear of Jake's passing. While I hadn't seen him in a while, we traveled together as a 2-person team to Saudi Arabia for 2 weeks in the early 2010s. It was a pretty grueling experience, but Jake played a big part in getting us through it. My thoughts are with your family.

Kim and family: I’m sorry I only just heard today about this, the day after, so I missed the service. I am so very sorry for your loss. Jake was a great coworker and friend. He was so proud of his sons. I will pray for peace and and comfort in this very difficult time. Hold on to all the memories, share and laugh at the fun times you all had. -Fred Wernsing

Dear brother - I miss you more than you know. My heart is hurting. You were the BEST big brother a girl could ask for. I have so many memories of growing up and then becoming grown ups. I will miss our phone calls. I will miss you. I am still in disbelief that you are gone. Please keep watch and help me when I am struggling - any signs you send will be appreciated. Love you -- till me meet again.

My heart goes out to Kim and the boys. I will remember Jake for his days involved with youth hockey. I will especially remember the days our boys played hockey together and times together on/off the ice. The hockey camp in Minnesota was quite the memory…
Michelle Emory left a message on July 21, 2022:
Jake was the original captain of our King Kitchens hockey team. He found (now Captain) Denis back when we were still the Bruins and we changed our name and our “lifestyle” as we call it. Our team has truly been more like a family than just a rec league team. Jake, and his son Austin, both played with us and I’m glad I had the opportunity to know Jake and play hockey with him. He loved hockey, playing it, coaching it, and attending Swamp Rabbits’ games. We just played against him a few weeks ago, it’s hard to believe he’s no longer with us. He will for sure be missed in this community!

Dear Yenser family, I am so sorry for your loss!!! I knew Jake through my time coaching youth hockey, and nobody advocated for player safety better than Jake. I remember an occasion when an out of town team was coming to Greenville, a team that had caused multiple significant injuries to 9, 10, 11, 12yo players), I spoke to Jake ahead of time about the concerns and Jake made sure that he had his best experienced referees scheduled for those games. Not a lot of people will do that sort of thing, but Jake did. I really appreciated it at the time... and I will never forget it, or the man.

Jake will be missed his quick wit and honesty was some of his finer points. he once sent me my prize money from the fantasy hockey league that he ran before moving to the San Diego area in pennies. it was one of his best pranks, I still laugh about it when we would talk. I regret the fact that the Covid BS did not allow our annual get together for the FHL I took over while he moved his family to California. I will miss him dearly. but always remember him!

Robert Judd left a message on July 18, 2022:
My memory of Jake was coaching 11-12 yr olds and doing a half ice scrimmage at end of practice. I think he forgot they love to try slap shots at that age and he decided to help play defense and be in front of the goalie. I think he realized he had no cup a second before the puck hit him. In fact I think he screamed right before it hit him. Once he picked himself up off the ice we all had a good laugh and thinking of that still brings a smile to my face.
Alison Jones left a message on July 18, 2022:
Our best memories of Jake are from squirt hockey days: practices, hockey games and then sitting around the table at Stax eating breakfast with Kim, Jake, Austin and Logan along with the Just family. Man, those were good times and great memories. But my favorite memories are working Drive baseball games and singing “Sweet Caroline” at the top of our lungs just to make Jake mad…we trust that Heaven is without the ‘bah, bah, bah’ Sweet Caroline refrain. Rest In Peace, Jake. Love to Kim, Austin and Logan. Our hearts and prayers are with you! Robert, Alison, Chandler and Pressley Judd
