Ruby Theresa Francis Clarke, 90, of Mauldin, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 9, 2021, in a local hospital.
Born in Calcutta, India on September 29, 1930, Ruby resided in The United Kingdom with her family from the time she was a young girl until she met and married her beloved husband Edward. Together, they traveled the world including stops in South Carolina, the Virgin Islands and Hawaii, to name a few.
Ruby’s life in our area was very fruitful…. to those that knew her best – a prayer warrior that always kept Jesus in her heart and frequently on her lips, always willing to share what Jesus had done for her. Strong, confident and passionate for the love of her deceased husband Edward, (ca. 1920 to ca. 1980), her fervent wish for many years was to reunite with him and her Savior. Ruby was a sharing type, that would dedicate many hours in what She called Her ministry. She hosted orphans for holiday parties and comforted the bedridden seniors and shut-ins of our Community …. using her own beautiful clothes collected over many years of traveling abroad, cutting them up and covering cheese boxes she received from the good pastors’ food pantry, filling them with dollar store soaps, lotions, candies, Bible verses and plastic flowers …. literally dozens of these labors of love. Over the years, several different very special friends would personally carry Ruby to hand deliver these little boxes of God’s love to the folks in these places, many who had no one left in this world. She had a “heart for the hurting and the suffering”. Ruby will be missed …. until we meet again.
Ruby leaves behind many many friends and acquaintances, all who would agree, Ruby touched their lives in a good, good way. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Edward Michael Clarke, as well as her parents, Albert Victor Francis and Bertha Ellen Francis. Ruby is survived by a brother, Clement Victor Francis, a niece, Sabrina Ross, a grandnephew, Ken Ross, all of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; a nephew, Philip, residing in India, and a nephew, Jude, residing in England.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 4 PM at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in the Divine Mercy Chapel, 3710 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Fr.
