Russell Jaroslaw "Jack" Czura, 73, of Pickens, SC, passed away on January 23, 2021.
Ukrainian natives Gregory and Micheline Czura settled in Germany after the war and were blessed with a son, Russell Jaroslaw Czura, on May 16, 1947. At two years of age his family emigrated to the United States settling in Clifton, New Jersey. Growing up the son of Eastern European parents, Russell spoke Ukrainian primarily at home and was fluent in Russian and Polish.
Russell graduated from Clifton High School and spent his career working as an engineer in machine manufacturing.
Russell actively served during the Vietnam Conflict in the US Army from April of 1966 to January of 1969. After honorably serving, he continued his military service in the US Army Reserves until 1972.
In later years, Russell worked in ceramic sales and enjoyed playing tennis and collecting classic automobiles.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Czura; a daughter, Danielle Czura and her fiance' Justin Burdine; three sons, Scott Czura, Gregory Czura, and Christopher Czura; and several grandchildren.
Although there will be no visitation with the family, public viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. A prayer service will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by committal prayers and military honors at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC.
