Master Sergeant (Ret.) Samuel Bailey, USAF, 87, husband of Alice J. Bailey of Pelzer, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at home.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Cullen and Roxie Bailey Martin.
Mr. Bailey served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 21 years. He retired from Michelin as a supervisor after 16 years of employment. He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville. He was an avid gardener and loved to farm.
In addition to his wife of 29 years, he is survived by four children, Edward Bailey, Carrol Bailey, Belinda Williams, and Anita Fortune; three bonus daughters, Romunda Little, Dana Williams, and Tammie Williams; brother, Cullen Martin, Jr.; two sisters, Patricia Beeks and Sandra Beeks-Raine; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Smith; two brothers, Nathaniel Martin and Albert Martin; and a sister, Bessie Lee Gatlin.
There will be a public viewing on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
