Mr. And Mrs. Simmons I am heartbroken about Samuel’s death. He was one of my most favorite patients we ever had. He gave so many people inspiration and hope. He as he got older, he was so intelligent and so to talk to. I pray that you find peace and the days to come. I’ve been thinking about him a lot over the years. You probably don’t remember me, but I was the manager at the follow-up clinic after he stopped coming there. I will speak with you when you come for your therapy appointment and at Children’s Miracle Network. Sam left an incredible mark on everybody he met in his short years. He was always positive when most would not be. It makes me happy to know that he is completely healed now again, I wish you and your son peace in the days to come. Please know that Sam was loved by so many people. One time we joked that we were going to start him a fan club. 😀. You will never know how many people have been blessed by his bright star. I will be praying for you all in the days to come. ❤️

Samuel was an important friend to our daughter Liz as they grew up. He was always a part of holiday and birthday parties, trips to movies and to plays. We always enjoyed his birthdays as well. When we went to see the movie Eragon, Samuel sat with me so he could whisper questions or comments to me about the movie! One Halloween, he came to the party dressed as a "Cereal Killer"! He always had a great sense of humor. Our hearts go out to all of you as you grieve this loss. Sending hugs and remembering wonderful memories. The Huskey Family

I didnt know Samuel very well but I knew that he possessed tremendous bravery every day. From leaving the house, to participating in theatre, to reciting poetry onstage, to countless other things I will never know about. He was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Samuel and I were in first grade together and sat by each other in Mrs Robinson’s class at Sara Collins. From day one he was incredibly outgoing and had one of the largest hearts I’ve ever been fortunate enough to cross paths with. He invited our entire class to his birthday party that year which was a great/rare opportunity to see everyone outside of school. We both graduated from JL Mann years later and anyone lucky enough to have met Samuel couldn’t deny that his positivity and outlook was something to admire which our world is sadly in short supply of these days. The world’s a little less bright without the optimism and genuine care he showed to everyone on a daily basis. I was truly sorry to hear about his passing and our hearts go out to all of his loved ones during such a tough time. I haven’t seen Samuel in years but I remember he always kept a strong faith and love for Christ so despite his departure it’s comforting to think he’s now at peace and in good hands with the good Lord. Ill never forget the fine qualities Samuel shared and something we should all strive towards in our own lives

With deepest sympathy, our hearts go out to you. Premies are special babies. They are delicate at first, but as they grow, they prove to their family and to the world their own resolve to live their life strong, David (also a premie) sat next to Samuel at RECESS and will always be in our minds and hearts, especially when we step into class and David sits down.

What a sweet, kind soul you are Samuel Simmons. Your smile could light up a room, and your enthusiasm for the small things in life was a joy to witness. One of my favorite memories of you was in Charleston on a church trip. I loved talking with you that day, and especially making you laugh. I will keep all these precious memories of you close in my heart. Until we meet again.

Dear Susan, Samuel and family, We are so sorry to hear the news of your loss. I remember meeting you when we were downtown at an event with Clifford and we talked. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Unfortunately we are at Duke Hospital on Friday and cannot attend the service. Samuel will surely be missed at the YMCA RECESS program.

I was so sad to find Samuel's obituary while scrolling for another friend's!! Samuel was one of my favorite fifth grade students at Sara Collins. He was always quiet and always ready to learn. My thoughts and prayers are extended to his precious family.
