Sara Goodmon Muxlow peacefully passed away on January 23, 2024, in her home in Taylors, South Carolina, at the age of 90. She was born on May 24, 1933, in Cross Anchor, South Carolina, to the late William and Gladys (Woodruff) Goodmon.
Sara was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Muxlow, in a joyous double wedding ceremony with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 67 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
As a homemaker, Sara poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She took great pride in her skills as a gardener, cultivating breathtaking gardens bursting with vibrant flowers and nourishing vegetables. Her culinary talents were renowned among family and friends, who reveled in the comfort and delight of her delicious meals. Sara’s skillful crochet work was a testament to her creativity and dedication, crafting beautiful pieces that are cherished by her family and friends.
Sara’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was a devoted member of Choice Hills Baptist Church, where she sang joyfully in the choir for 26 years. Sara and Ken also shared many special friendships with the members of Fellowship Baptist Church in Greenville. Her unwavering belief in God guided her through life’s ups and downs, providing her with strength and comfort.
Above all else, Sara was a doting grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured her grands and greats, and despite the physical distance, she maintained close connections with them through modern means of communication, never missing an opportunity to text and share in their lives and accomplishments.
Sara is loved and mourned by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth E. Muxlow; five children, K. Scott Muxlow, William Muxlow and his wife Sylvia, Dan Muxlow and his wife Melinda, Sally Calder and her husband David, David Muxlow and his wife Susie; eight grandchildren, Gregory Muxlow, Adam Muxlow, Blake Muxlow, Zac Muxlow, Carly Calder, Ben Muxlow, Eli Muxlow and Ellie Calder; and eight great grandchildren, Kylie, Ayden, Emory, Gracen, Easton, Henry, Hudson, and Lewis.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by two beloved granddaughters, Jennifer Muxlow and Emma Calder; and three sisters, Betty (Dick) Cooley, Carolyn (Jerry) Watson, and Irma (Jerry) Kelley.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Choice Hills Baptist Church with burial following in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
