Kate was a wonderful friend. One of the best times we had was on our trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in 2006. Kate conquered two fears on that trip: (1) taking a white water rafting trip and (2) taking an aerial ride up a mountain. On the the rafting trip at the first rapid Kate quickly stowed her paddle and dove under the seat in front of her to hide! Afterwards, she said "That wasn't so bad!" and enjoyed the rest of the ride. On the aerial ride she was gripping the handle bar so tightly that her knuckles were white. I shared the seat with her and spoke soothingly to her all the way up. At the top she enjoyed the view and had no fears on the way down. Though I have know Kate for only about 25 years, I consider her one of my best friends and I will miss her sorely. May God bless all her family as you morn her loss. I truly believe that Kate is now beyond the pain and discomfort of the illness she has lived with for several years and is experiencing the joys of heaven.

Well, Kate was truly a wonder. She was so smart, so musically gifted and skilled at imparting her knowledge of music. From 3rd through 10th grade, I took private lessons from Kate. Those lessons were life-changing for me. Then, I had the benefit of learning from her in a totally different way-through the Holley HS musicals and then the community musicals. She guided so many of us on what was our first time on stage. Her level of professionalism was unmatched. I’ll never forget you, Kate. My love to her two daughters and family.

Very sorry to hear of Kate's passing. I was so grateful for her dedication to teaching piano lessons. She had a huge impact on my son Thomas's life and decision to pursue music composition as a career. He learned so much from her, not only about piano and organ playing but about music as a profession. She challenged him and he loved it. He loved her as well.

Maria and family, my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother. Kate was a force to be reckoned with. I remember her trying to teach me scales on piano at BJs, She finally told me to stick to the drums.I couldn't even get the scales! But Kate was so patient (while rolling her eyes) with me. In my defense, I am dyslexic, but she gave it her best! Thank you Kate for laughter, the goofiness, and all the advice. You will be missed. Oh, if you could send down that amazing ability for the piano that you possess into my heart, it would be much appreciated. Love and miss you miss kate

I know Kate is hearing some Beautiful Music now and everyday in her new Heavenly Home. She was a very nice person and I so enjoyed her as our pianist at Mauldin Methodist ... whether it was Sunday or Wednesday nights. My prayers are with her family. May Kate rest in peace with our Father in Heaven.
