Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Elrod

Sarah Elizabeth “Lib” Elrod, 95, of Greenville, widow of James Edward “Ed” Elrod, went to meet the Lord on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Born in Greenwood, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry R. and Octavia Augustine.

Lib retired from The Greenville News and was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed arranging flowers. Lib was a frequent QVC’er.

She is survived by two sons, Richard “Rick” Elrod and his wife, Mary Sue Elrod and Don G. Elrod and his wife, Gail M. Elrod; six grandchildren, Lorie Thomas, Johnathan Elrod, Kevin Elrod, Matthew Elrod, Ricky Elrod, and Samantha Collins; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Henrietta “Retta” Sherman; and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents and husband of 67 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Walker and a sister, Carolyn McElrath.

The family wishes to give special thanks to The Legacy at Hawthorne and Providence Hospice for their loving and generous care.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
