Sarah Gower Lowe Fant “Sally”, 80, of Greenville SC died Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Fletcher and Mary Conyers Lowe.
Previously married to Patrick Cleburne Fant, Jr. “Bo”, she was dearly loved by her family and friends.
She was known by her friends as my Gal-Sal. Sally absolutely loved her family, friends, dogs and yard birds. She had a way about her that made people feel special and loved.
Sally was a lifelong member of Christ Church Episcopal where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She attended Greenville High School, Brenau College and Converse College. She was a member of the Junior League of Greenville, the Thursday Lunch Bunch, the Carolina Foothills Garden Club, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and served as an officer of the Dorothy Haynsworth Garden Club and past president of The Assembly.
She is survived by son Patrick Cleburne Fant, III (Jennifer) grandson, Patrick Cleburne Fant, IV; granddaughter, Lillian Gower Fant; grandson, James Edward Fant; brother, John Fletcher Lowe Jr. (Mary Fran); two nephews, John Lowe and James Hodges; and three nieces, Elizabeth Lowe, Suzanne Scott, and Mary Hodges.
In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her son Edward Gower Fant.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Church Episcopal. Burial will be in Christ Episcopal Churchyard.
The Fant family will be at their home after visitation on Thursday and the funeral on Friday. Friends are welcome!
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate to the Edward Gower Fant Memorial Fund, please write the check to Christ Church Episcopal and in the memo note write: EDWARD GOWER MEMORIAL FUND. One-half (1/2) of the earnings goes to Haiti Missions and one-half ( ½) to Project Host Soup Kitchen.
