Sarah Robinson Lowery, 100, of Greenville, loving wife of Cecil E. Lowery, was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Dacusville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Malena Aretha Turner Robinson.
Sarah was a devout Christian and long time member of Sans Souci Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, active in WMU, her circle group and presided over the Young At Heart for many years. Additionally, Sarah taught in Greenville County Schools for thirty-six years, serving the Sans Souci and Welcome Communities.
Sarah was multi-talented, excelling in sewing, needlework, crafts and flower gardening. She loved to travel and did so extensively with her husband. She was also a fabulous cook. She is best known as being a force, both quiet and outspoken, that immeasurably shaped the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren in addition to the thousands of children she taught in the classroom.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 72 years are her children: Lynn Robinson Lowery (Beverly), Cecilia Lowery Williams (Douglas) and Susan Lowery Robbins (Tony); seven grandchildren: David Lowery, Mark Lowery, Tena Cagle, Elizabeth Johnson, Melissa Fair, Bryan Fair and Heather Satterfield; three great grandchildren, Miranda Lowery, Esme' Lowery and a great grandson expected in May. Also surviving are her sister, Mary Margaret Deyton, and brother William Robinson.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nell Robinson Finley.
Although no formal receiving of friends will be held, friends may pay their respects by visiting Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest on Saturday, January 23, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Sans Souci Baptist Church on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Easley.
Masks are required in all Thomas McAfee Funeral Home locations and attendees are strongly encouraged to follow the CDC guidelines in social distancing at the church and the cemetery.
