Thomas W. Riddle, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Born in Greenville, he was the last surviving child of the late Luther Miles and Willie Pauline Riddle and the widower of Mary Lou Riddle.
Mr. Riddle served in the Navy aboard the battleship USS Wisconsin during World War II and is a Korean War Veteran. After his Naval Service, he began his career as a firefighter for the City of Greenville in 1950. He retired as Assistant Chief after 40 years of service. He also pursued his love of truck driving for JM Rogers Leasing, LM Industries, and Peterbilt of Greenville.
He is survived by four daughters, Betty Boiter (Ric), Kathy Bridges (Terry), Pam Lambert (Rodney), and Patti Riddle; grandchildren, Chad Cole, Adam Boiter, Jessica Allen, and Abby Houck; great-grandchildren, Chandler Cole and Levi Allen. He is also survived by numerous lifelong friends that cherish their relationship with him.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Riddle Rogers and Helen Riddle King as well as his brothers, Ray Riddle, Arthur Riddle, and James Riddle.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, followed by a funeral at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
