Tyler Scherz, 28, of Greer, passed away at Prisma Health in Greenville on Friday, April 29, 2022 after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the youngest child of Thomas M. Scherz and Felicia A. Mullinax.
Tyler was a life-long resident of Greenville and attended Mitchell Road Elementary, Northwood Middle, and Eastside High Schools. After many years working in the restaurant and tree removal business, he found his true calling in the construction industry as a trim carpenter. He thoroughly enjoyed his chosen profession and took enormous pride in his contributions to some of Greenville’s finest homes.
When not working, Tyler could be found spending quality time with family and friends. He was happiest when on the golf course, fishing, or preparing a delicious meal for others. Tyler was justifiably proud of recently beating his brother Patrick in a round of golf with a personal best score of 77.
Tyler was a devoted son, loving brother, and loyal friend to many others. He could always be counted on to provide encouragement and support to those in need. Those closest to him knew he hated losing at anything competitive, and having to wake up early in the morning. He was always guided by his heart and generous spirit, and will be remembered for his positive outlook of life, good-natured humor, and unending energy. His love and compassion helped many others to overcome difficult times in their lives. Tyler was always the life of the party, and unequalled on the dance floor.
His memory is cherished in the hearts of his mother, Felicia Mullinax and her partner, Randy Mathena, of Greenville; father, Thomas Scherz and his wife, Chimgee, of Greer; sister, Carly Durham and her husband, Will, and daughters, Blakely, Mayzie, and Bella Reid; brother, Patrick Scherz and his son, Castor; and his beloved dog, Letti. Tyler also leaves his grandparents, Kenneth and Rosalinde Scherz of Jacksonville Florida; and Billie Ann Mullinax of Travelers Rest.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Scherz, cousin, Jodah Mullinax, and grandfather, Marshall Mullinax.
