Velma Geneva McAdams Smith, age 97, widow of James Harold Smith Sr., passed away April 1, 2022.

She was born on March 12, 1925, to Forest and Velma McAdams in Easley, SC.

She was a lifelong member of Hunts Memorial Baptist Church. She had many friends and enjoyed serving in her church, painting, and crocheting. She was a homemaker, and always there for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by six sisters.

She is survived by one sister, Sherril Simmons; one daughter, Joan McCoig (Leon), and one son, James. H. Smith, Jr. all of Easley; two grandsons, Donald Stephens (Debra) of N. Charleston, SC, and Rev. Dale McCoig (Marianne) of Greenville, SC; one great granddaughter, Joanie McCoig of the home; two great grandsons, Brett Stephens (Toni) of N. Charleston, SC, and Philip McCoig (Lynsey) of Piedmont, SC; and one great great granddaughter, Collins McCoig, of Piedmont, SC.

A graveside service will held on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Hunts Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunts Memorial Baptist Church, 501 Alex Dr., Easley, SC 29640.

I know you are in heaven with my grandmother your dear sister frank Frances ! You lived a very long life and I know you loved the church and your family ! You will be missed we all loved you .

Thoughts and Prayers are with you on the passing of Miss Geneva. Will be praying for you all in the difficult days to come.

Mrs Geneva was a special lady and friend to our ladies at Hunts Memorial Baptist Church. She and Dot and Margaret were the best of friends and special members of the Dorcas Sunday School class at Hunts Memorial along with other fine ladies. Lots of special memories of these ladies and their contributions to the Womens Missionary Union as we learned about God’s word and how it was spread to other countries and places in the United States. They focused on how our donations could be used for mission work. As a younger member of the WMU organization I learned so much from these special Christian women. We will miss Geneva and the other women of Hunts Memorial Baptist Church who left their legacy as they did.

Dearest Jimmy, Joan, Leon & family. My thoughts & prayers are with each of you. There are no words that will take away the pain of losing someone you love. Your Mom will ALWAYS be in your heart. You will have good days & you will have bad days, but God is with you & will never leave you. Heaven gained an Angel & Dad was there to welcome her. Love, Vickie Wickware
