Veronica Cecilia Fowler, 63, beloved wife of Mike Fowler, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, after courageously battling cancer.
She was the daughter of Carmen Omana Scanlon and the late Felix Scanlon.
In addition to her loving husband and mother, she is survived by sons Michael Fowler and Steven Fowler (wife Brooks), daughter Christine Layton (husband Kyle), granddaughter Emma Fowler, brother Steven Scanlon (wife Rachel), and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
After obtaining a business degree from St. Thomas University and University of Houston, Veronica enjoyed several years in various banking positions before starting a family. However, her passion was always family, faith, and friends.
Veronica selflessly and unwaveringly poured herself into others and was deeply dedicated to family. All who knew Veronica noticed her kindness and compassion. According to one friend, “one of the most friendly, caring, and giving persons I have ever known. She was always looking to share time, talent and herself with everyone, especially those in need.”
Veronica was an active volunteer over the years at her children’s schools and her church, including the Catholic Daughters and working with her husband at various Knights of Columbus charitable events.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
The funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday January 11th at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2252 Woodruff Rd., Simpsonville SC 2968.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Support SJCS – St. Joseph’s Catholic School (sjcatholicschool.org).
