Walter “Doyle” Riggins, 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Walter and Doris Turner Riggins.
Doyle was a Greenville native, graduating from Greenville High School and retired from Bi-Lo Warehouse in Mauldin. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, putting his faith in the Lord Jesus and serving Him where he could. Doyle enjoyed being outside tinkering with lawn mowers and cars. He was a jack of all trades, always working on a project.
Doyle loved his family and spending time with them most of all. He had a loving and giving heart, he believed family was not only by blood but by heart. He became an unofficial father to his daughter, Christina, when she was at a young age. To her, he was Dad, and for him, she was the daughter he never had. He was a man of great work ethic, strong faith, and family values. Doyle was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him. His memory and legacy will live on by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by daughter, Christina Hale (Terry); grandchildren, Cameron Hale (Ryan) and Preston Hale; sister, Patsy Waters; nephews, Ken Waters (Sherry) and Greg Waters (Tara); great nephews and niece, Braden, Patrick, Eli, and Kensleigh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ray Waters.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 21,2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery West.
