We first met Bill on the occasion of James and Cristi's wedding in Florida, and then again after he and Millie had relocated to Greenville.  Bill and Millie made us feel very welcome.  Bill's prodigious knowledge and interest in a wide range of subjects meant that we had many a lively discussion with him.    Above all, Bill's love of his children and grandchildren was always so clearly paramount.  He will be greatly missed.   May he rest in peace.

Thinking back on so many fond memories of Bill from our childhood: introducing us to classic movies, asking us questions about books, school, grades with a respect that really made you feel like you weren't "just a kid" and that your opinions and perspectives mattered; to adult life years later and reuniting our growing families all the way across the country. Wonderful memories. He will be missed and my love and thoughts are with Cristi, Katie and Millie.

I have a lot of fond memories of Bill, but I will remember him most for his love of his family and the desire to never stop learning. Bill had many different interests but his favorite of all was teaching his grandkids how to read. I remember hearing the excitement in his voice when he talked about them. Bill was a great boss, but more than that he was a great friend. Rest in peace.
