William “Bill” Othell Kendall, Jr., beloved husband, father, and friend passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 90.
Bill was born on October 17, 1932, in Columbia. He was an active member of Hunt’s Memorial Baptist Church.
Bill joined the United States Air Force in 1950, where he discovered his love for aviation. He worked in and around the aviation industry since then and was the longest serving FAA Designated Examiner (DME) in the state, retiring in the spring of 2019. He earned the Charles Taylor award for 50 years in aviation and was inducted into the South Carolina Aviation Hall of Fame in 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Lancaster Kendall; his children, Bill (Laurie), Thommy (Sheri), and Dawn (Tomas); his stepchildren, Tina (Larry), Debra (Chris), Mike (Tolya), and Jeff (Sheila); and his grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Even though he has left this earth, his memory lives on. His influence, humor, and love were shared with everyone who knew him.
The visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the memorial service to follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel.
