Dear Family of William Charles “Billy” Mitchell. I knew Billy while working at Mary’s Record Shop and Mitchell’s Audio in 1966-1969 and thereafter. Billy helped to make this a wonderful experience and frankly taught me more than I learned in any course of study. Having just learned of your tremendous loss, I regret that my comments are late. I am sincere in what I say, nevertheless. Billy was always fun to be around. The family dynamic was enviable and a great example. Billy went to high school with many people I have called friends in my life and we all have wonderful stories to tell. I saw him last at Henry’s Barbecue. I wish that my memory were nearly as good as his. I loved Billy and I genuinely loved the family. Billy and the family created a world where all people were accepted and customer service was the name of the profession. I still have proudly in my possession a TeeShirt with “Mitchell for Mayor” emblazoned on it. It remains and will remain among my most cherished possessions. With love, Norman Belk

Billy was fearless. He never received all of the satisfaction which he deserved, but he made his point and was respected throughout the Greenville community. I recently learned of Billy's death, and regret that I could not attend his service. Rest in Power and Peace.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Glynn, I just received the notice of Billy’s death. I am thinking of you during what has to be a sad time during the holidays. When I reflect on my childhood, I think about you and our friendship. It was a wonderful gift to me. I remember your resilience and warmth. I know those qualities are serving you well now. May his memory always be a blessing to you. With love, Jane

Oh! my dear 'brother-in-arms'! We fought in the trenches together with the greatest hilarity and some of my fondest memories. You were truly a worthy soldier and compatriot, and I hope, if you had to go, that you left laughing. See you 'soon', my friend.

Barbie and I had many happy times with Billy while I worked as a service tech for him. We were thankful to have gotten to spend a few minutes with him in conversation and prayer before he left.

I have fond memories of the days when I worked alongside Billy at Mary's Records/Mitchell's Audio with his mother and father Mary Lynn and Bill Mitchell. My condolences to the entire family. May the passage of time help you to remember Billy and the smiles he brought to those he encountered. His absence will be felt by many.
