William Gerald Ravan, 74, husband of Jane Smith Ravan, left this earth for his heavenly home on April 28, 2022. He lived life fully and in service to everyone he met. His heart to help and build others up impacted so many lives throughout the years. His quick wit and humor was one of his most admirable qualities.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of William Francis Ravan and Ollie Swindle Ravan.

He served in the Army National Guard from 1967-1973.

He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley and formerly of Greenville First Assembly. He served the church in a number of ways through Director of Security, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Royal Rangers and Building Committees. He could always be found standing guard to protect the ones he loved.

He was owner and president of Ravan Plumbing Company. He was involved in numerous community boards to enhance the community around him. He worked for many years serving warrants and protecting the citizens of Greenville County under the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Stephanie James (Randy) and Seceli Barrett; four grandchildren, Ivey James, William James, Rivers Barrett, and Stone Barrett. He was preceded in death by Stephen Ravan, his parents William and Ollie Ravan and son in law, Robert (Bo) Barrett.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church Easley, SC with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
