William King Hightower, III died Sunday, August 29, 2010. Born May 26, 1947 in Greenville, he was the son of William K., Jr., and Frances Phillips Hightower; and grandson of William K., Sr., and Jennie Baber Hightower, and Elford E. and Harriett Marchbanks Phillips. Kin was a graduate of Travelers Rest High School, attended Furman University, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was owner of Foothills Tax Service, and a member of the SC Taxpayers Assoc. He was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church where he was a teacher of the Men's Fellowship Class. Kin was a member of Greenville Chapter SC Genealogical Society, and 16th SC Volunteers Camp #36 Sons of Confederate Veterans on record of his great-grandfather, Peter Cauble Marchbanks. Survived by his mother, Frances Hightower; son, Brian Hightower and wife Jennifer; daughter Annette Hightower-Henson; sister, Carol Leake and husband Mike; grandchildren, Kelsey, Jackson and Grayson Hightower; Alexandria and Michaela Henson; nephews, Sam and Mitch Leake; aunts Birdie Harmon and Lilly Phillips; and uncle, Howard Addis. Visitation Tuesday, August 31 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, at Reedy River Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Eph. 1:4. Memorials may be made to Cemetery Trust Fund, Reedy River Baptist Church, 871 N. Hwy. 25 Bypass, Greenville, SC 29617. The family will be at 114 Davidson Road, Greenville.
