Geraldine" Big Mama" Redding Bowen, 73, of Greenville, loving wife of seven years to the late Donald "Donnie" Lee Bowen, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 13, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Born in Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lola Mae Jordan, and R.C. "Pete" Redding.
Geraldine was a charter member of Radiant Church. She loved her church family and serving the Lord. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, Big Mama, aunt, cousin, and friend. Geraldine lived life to the fullest and when she got tired, you'd hear her start saying, "ohhhh, me". Any chance she had to be with her family, she'd be there, going to softball games to watch her grandkids, cruises to tropical locations, being beside the New River. She was also a sun goddess and was known to roll up her shorts to tan her legs when she didn't have a swimsuit on.
Geraldine's legacy will continue on with her wonderful daughter, Angela Self and her husband, Richard Falcon; five adoring grandchildren, Richie Passmore, Maranda Passmore and Justin Winski, Cory Westmoreland, Jena Westmoreland, and Alyssa Bearden; eight loving great grandchildren, Alexa Enders, Eli Passmore, Nick and Maria Sialmas, Griffin Clinkscales, Peyton Kinsler, Lily Rogers, and Haisley Epps; five sisters, Sara Powell, Jewel Garst and her husband, John, Wanda Rogers and her husband, Terry, Vickie Gillespie and her husband, Edgar, and Cindy Hanvey and her husband, Roger; her brother, Ronnie Redding; and sister-in-love, Nancy Pennington.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Geraldine is preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Redding and her sister Theresa Redding.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Radiant Church, 15 Crane Avenue, Greenville, SC 29617, with the Reverend Ricky Motes officiating.
