Velma Mae McGaha Brown, 86, of Powdersville, died Sunday, August 31, 2008. Born in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late William "Bill" McGaha and Flora Hall McGaha and wife of the late Marvin Jefferson Brown. Mrs. Brown was retired from J.P. Stevens, Dunean plant and was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Long and husband Tommy, of Greenville; three sons, Jimmy Brown and wife Claudia of Powdersville, Johnny Brown and wife Susan of Piedmont, and Doug Brown and wife Brenda of Easley; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Janet Long Stapleton; and a brother, Roy McGaha. A graveside service will be Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:30 pm at Graceland Cemetery, West with visitation from 12:00 1:00 pm prior to the service at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
