Larcie “Belle” McDowell Richardson, 91, of Easley, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Born in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Temple McDowell.
Belle was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church since 1957. She taught GA’s and a member of the “Dorcas” Sunday School Class, and the WMU “Womens’ Missions Union” group at church. She enjoyed water skiing on Saluda and Lake Hartwell, gardening and canning. She knew the value of saving pennies and hard work and as a loving mother passed those values down to her children and grandchildren.
Belle is survived by two sons, James Richardson and his wife, Margaret; Donald Richardson and his wife, Janice; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alex McDowell and Shem McDowell; and a sister, Ruby Moss.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Broadus Richardson in 1999; daughter, Virginia Harris; grandson, Rick Galloway and great-grandson, Steven Verdin; four sisters, Peggy Ledford, Sue Ellis, Lena Stone and Joyce Crocker; and three brothers, John “J.T.” McDowell, Darren McDowell and Bob McDowell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers for their love and compassion while caring for her, Kristie, Leah, Missy, Porscha, Quinn and Tan.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9,2021, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family requests that the CDC guidelines in wearing masks and social distancing be followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1623 Hester Store Road, Easley, SC 29640, c/o Operations Christmas Child.
