Christina “Chris” Kimbrell Scott, 72, of Greer, devoted wife of 38 years to Edmund “Jack” Scott, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Born on January 14, 1949, in Shelby, NC, she was a daughter of the late William and Jewel Scism Kimbrell.
Chris lived the majority of her life in Mobile, AL and after being told “ladies don’t go to college,” she proved them wrong by securing a full scholarship to the University of Alabama. During her senior year, she was the leader of the debate team and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Chris has worked as a real estate agent before doing extensive recruiting of volunteers for Greenville Hospital.
Chris was the epitome of a southern lady and always made sure to have her clothing and make up “just right.” She enjoyed reading (especially in front of the fireplace), thrifting, decorating, and cheering on her alma mater, Alabama football. Chris was taught to cook by her grandmother, and her happy place was in the kitchen. She regularly tried new recipes – most of which were delicious. Chris also loved spending time with her family.
Her memory will live on in the heart of her best friend and loving husband; as well as their wonderful son, Edmund Jackson Scott, Jr. (Caitlin) of Greer; two loving step-daughters, English Scott Burlos (Greg) of Mt Pleasant, and Katherine Scott Finch (Tom) of Taylors; step-grandsons, Andy, Nick, Jake, and Sam Burlos; two brothers, Bill Kimbrell (Ginny) of Boiling Springs, and Eddie Kimbrell (Nita) of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Susie Childers (Douglas) of Boiling Springs; nephews, David Kimbrell (Jessica), Derrick Kimbrell (Kennedi), Chris Childers (Emily), Nathan Childers (Jennifer); niece, Deandra Kimbrell (Jacob); a step-great niece, Bella Kimbrell; her beloved cats, Midnight, Pixel, and Baby; her dog, Kate; and her grandcats, Genki and ChiChi.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal. Burial will take place in Springwood Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Chris and her love of animals to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Rd, Greenville, SC 29607.
