Sybil DeLoach Green was born March 27, 1942. She passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Friday, February 18, 2022, under the care of the loving staff at Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville, SC. As per her wishes, her earthly body has been donated to the Emory University School of Medicine.
Sybil is survived by her brother, Richard E. DeLoach (Jan), her daughters, Angela Kay (Rusty) and Cynthia Frazier (Brian), and her son, Douglas Green (Monica), her grandchildren, Chip Kay, Georgia Caroline Kay, and Logan Frazier, as well as a great-grandson, Russ Kay, and many relatives on the Green side of the family. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Leon Ernest DeLoach and Martha Kate (Buchannan) DeLoach, her brother, Charles L. DeLoach, and sister-in-law, Eleanor DeLoach, and the father of her three children, Charles A. Green.
Sybil was a graduate of Decatur (GA) High School, Class of 1960. She was a talented seamstress, and an Executive Secretary at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel for many years. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She made everyone she came in contact with feel special and loved even as she suffered with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Sybil was of the Baptist faith and attended many churches during her lifetime. She was a true woman of God and her faith got her through good times and bad.
Sybil raised her family alongside many cherished neighbors on Post House Court in Fox Hills (Marietta, GA) and many happy memories were made there. In her final years, she was cared for by Ayelet, Michael, Daniel and Isabel Johnson, and friend Jimmy Haralambus. They generously took her into their home, making her a part of their family and providing for all of her needs. She was truly blessed by each of them.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sojourn Church in Marietta, GA. The family will gather in the fellowship hall following the service to receive friends. To reflect Sybil’s love of all things bright and beautiful, feel free to wear bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of SC (for Georgia Caroline’s Crew), The Alzheimer’s Association, or The National Schleroderma Foundation.
