William “Clayton” Grubbs, 37, loving husband of Ashley Lynn Grubbs, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 15, 2022.
Clayton was born on June 2, 1984, in Greenville, SC, to Victoria Ann Holland and the late Joe William Grubbs. He was also loved and cared for by his stepfather, Gary Clardy.
His love of music began at an incredibly early age. Not only was he a gifted singer/songwriter, but also a talented musician, who could pick up a multitude of instruments and play with ease. The beautiful sounds of his favorite instrument, the guitar, will be deeply missed.
Clayton was known for his generous heart and willingness to help others. His love for the Lord, mother, wife, and family was unconditional. Clayton also bravely served five years in the United States Army.
He is survived by wife Ashley Grubbs; sister Taylor Cotham; brothers Brad Clardy and Matthew Clardy; grandfather Bobby Grubbs (Maxine); Grandmother Kita Baldwin, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Joe William Grubbs, and his grandfather James W. Holland.
Visitation will be held Thursday April 21, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes in Downtown Greenville, followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. The burial will be at Wood Memorial Park.
