Thornwell Roy Barton, 95, husband of the late Winifred Barton, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Gentry and Ruth McMahan Barton.
T.R. worked his entire career in the textile industry with J.P. Stevens-Dunean Mills, and was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. An avid Gamecock fan, he also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He is survived by three children, Ron Barton (Sharron), Dennis Barton (Jane), Melinda Maw (Michael), six grandchildren, Jeff Barton (Katie), Tyler Barton (Lori), Beth Persons (Brad), Nicole Craft (Patrick), Jennifer Messervy (Reid), and Sara Maw; ten great- grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley McDowell.
In addition to his wife and parents, T.R. was preceded in death by a son, Barry Barton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Mauldin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
