Agnes “Jeneta” Hughes, 75, beloved wife of 57 years to Darrell Hughes, of Easley, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Born in Cateechee, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Inez Crowe Rampey.
Jeneta was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Jeneta was a true southern woman to the core; she loved visiting the mountains and the beach, antiquing, yard sales, and beautiful jewelry. She enjoyed spending time with her family, collecting angels, dolls, and anything with a palm tree on it. Jeneta had a golden thumb when it came to decorating, she had her special apple theme she used in her kitchen.
Although Jeneta enjoyed going out to eat; she was an excellent cook and enjoyed making meals for her precious family. For her, the best time was time spent with them. Her grandchildren lovingly called her “Nanny” and that was something she took pride in; they were her joy.
Jeneta had a loving and kind spirit with a heart of gold. She will be missed beyond compare, but her legacy of love and her memory will be carried on by those that loved her most.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons, DJ Hughes (Jena) and Rickey Hughes (Carrie); granddaughters, Constance Kidd (Josh) Daniela Smith (Jake), Katie and Claire Hughes; great grandchildren, Harlee Denice and Samuel Oliver; a brother, Harold Rampey; and sisters, Shirley Fox and Gloria Gomez.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamala “Pam” Denice Hughes.
The funeral service will be held Friday, November 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery West.
The family would like to express a special thanks to their friends and family members for their love and support.
