Morn Elizabeth McKoy Lindsay, 88, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
She was born in Columbus, GA on June 4, 1934 to Annie Pearl Smith McKoy and Hamilton Hall McKoy.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Lindsay, Jr., of Greenville; children, Herbert (Mac) McKoy Lindsay of Tucker, GA (Karen); and Morn Ellen Lindsay Miller of Mt. Pleasant, SC (Steve). Also, grandchildren, Patrick McQueeney (Michelle) and their children, Reese and Peyton; Michael McQueeney; and Morn Emily McQueeney Walker (Graham), all of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She also is survived by Steve’s children, Jeff Miller of Park City, UT and Milynda Miller Poston (Fred) and their children, Ashley, Raelyn, and Carolina of Arvada, CO. She was predeceased by her brother, James Wade Hampton McKoy.
Morn graduated from Columbus (GA) High School in 1952. She was active in choir at school and First Baptist Church. After marrying Herb, they lived in Greenville where she worked at Liberty Life Insurance Co. After Mac and Ellen were born, she was involved with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, church, and volunteer work. In the 1970’s, she became interested in genealogy and co-published “The Jury Lists of South Carolina 1778-1779”. She was also a contributing editor and assistant editor of the Georgia Genealogical Magazine. She enjoyed helping many people research their ancestors. Morn was a member of the Behethland Butler Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 40 years, where she also served as Librarian and Registrar. She was also a member of The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, where for many years she served in the choir and hand-bell choir. On December 27, 2022, Morn and Herb celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
