Betty Patterson Worrell, beloved wife of the late James Everett Worrell, Sr. (Sabo), mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2023.
Born on April 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Vennie Patterson Williams, Luther Patterson and stepdaughter of the late Tyre (TL) Williams. She is survived by her children Mary Ellen Worrell and Dr. Cindy Doolittle (Bruce); grandchildren, Brittany Governale (Tony), Nathan Hamilton, Katy Wright, Lucy Wilkinson (Tommy), Andrew and Sara Worrell; great-grandchildren, Olivia Story, Cameron Hamilton, and Maclaren, Owen, and Sabo Bear Wilkinson; brother, David Williams (Donna) and sister-in-law, Sara Newton. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert V. Worrell, Everett Worrell, Jr., and brother Billy Patterson. She was a former member of St. Paul UMC and a current member of Earle Street Baptist Church.
Special thanks to her wonderful neighbors, the Dilleshaws, the Daultons, and the Trondles, her special caregiver Tanesse, and Prisma Hospice nurse Jessica and CNA Doris who were always so good to our mother.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 18 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Earle St. Baptist Church 225 W. Earle St. Greenville, SC 29609, Hospice Palmetto Region 1003 Grove Rd. Greenville, SC 29605 or to a charity of your choice.
