Gregory Thomas Gardziola Sr., 60, husband of 30 years to Concetta Gardziola, went to be with God on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and pursued an education in osteopathic medicine, specializing in Stroke and critical care neurology.

Gregory loved to travel, cook, work out, and read the news surrounded by their family cats and dogs. He was a fan of movies, Godzilla being his favorite, anime, and Legos.

His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his wife, Concetta; and his children, Aniela, Gabriella, and Gregory Jr, and other loving extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greenville Humane Society for his love of rescue animals.

My heart just sank when I saw this! I have known Greg for years since our time at GHS. His passion for Neurology and patient care was infectious! I am a Physical Medicine and Rehab physician who worked closely with him . I am so sorry for your loss. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers ! Bless you all!

Extending my deepest condolences. I fondly remember many chats with Greg back home in Michigan when we were both students at Oakland University. So very sorry to hear of his passing.

My deepest condolences to the Gardziola family. He would always beam with pride when sharing stories of each of your accomplishments leaving no doubt of his devotion. I had the privilege of working with Greg for a number of years and admired his passion for work and generosity of spirit. He could always be counted on when help was needed both professionally and personally. He taught me so much about stroke and neuroscience for which I am immensely grateful. His memory will live on through those who knew him. I am honored to be in that group. God bless you, Dr. Gardziola.

I met Greg in 1981 at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and we immediately became good friends. I lived with his family in the summer of 1983, and Greg and I were room mates during the 1983-1984 school year. Greg was one of the most generous people I have ever met. If you needed a favor or just someone to listen to your problems, Greg was always there for you. From going up to Manitoulin Island and fishing to working out, Greg was passionate about the things he enjoyed doing. I hadn’t seen Greg in many years, but I have been thinking about him and all the good times we had together for the last several days. Prayers to his family and friends.

Our family trip to Catalina, May 2022, will be a special memory of you and Greg, laughing, enjoying each other, enjoying family. So sorry for your loss, our loss, Cetta, Anja, Gabbie and Gregory. Lovingly, your sister, Mary Ann and Tom

Greg you were the best cat and doggie daddy in the world. You bought them new toys and treats every time you went to the store. You told me last month that you really wanted one more cat. I know you would have found room in your heart and home for any furry child in need. You were such an amazing, wonderful, smart, loving and caring person. I am thankful I had the chance to get to know you and adopt you as my family member for all these years. I sure will miss your smile and wave as I drive thru the hood each day. Thank you for taking time to speak to me when we passed. I will love on your cats and dogs for you and continue to be there for the family. You are loved and missed greatly. I can only imagine how wonderful rainbow bridge was the day you arrived there.

Concetta, Anja, Gabby, & Greg - I am so very sorry to learn of Greg's/your Dad's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I will always remember him fondly and will never forget working out with him, or you all, at Asian Sun. He was such a nice man that most definitely made a difference in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Heaven certainly has another angel and I pray that God welcomes him with open arms.

I have so many fantastic memories spending time with the cousins at the Fruehauf house. As a kid, I remember being a bit intimidated by Greg, he was the older, more serious of the two brothers well and the Richert Gardziola's were a bit louder, a little less behaved and so on.... . Greg was still always engaging, very interesting and as time went on, appreciated his more serious side,( he helped me every little injury happened - whether from soccer or rough housing he "put a band aide on it". So happy to have had this family in my life. My condolences to you Concetta and your children and to Jim, Helene and Kristen, I hope you hold your favorite memories close and find peace in the coming months and years. Thinking of you all. I have many memories of Greg. Greg had a smile that lit up the whole room. At my wedding Greg and I danced. I slipped on my dress and fell into his arms. Lol

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for raising a strong, and amazing daughter who helped me through my TKD journey. You truly raised her right. You will be missed good sir!
