Brenda, we are sorry for your loss. Somethings things are merciful, and we wish the class in which Peck passed is granted to all that are deserving, and he was.

Barbara rebecca “Becky” Givens Simmons left a message on June 19, 2024:
My father was a very intelligent, creative, funny, avid life long golfer, special man , Great father and a SUPREME husband to our mother, Brenda Brown Givens. It seems unfair that he is gone. But such is life. He lived a long happy life with dignity and honesty. He created a successful career, that afforded our family to never go without. In fact, Our Dad loved spoiling us all. With special gifts, big trips to the Beach every year and he always made Christmas super special. It is very difficult to accept that he has moved from this world and entered into the unknown. I hope one day I will see my father again. It is my hope, that now, he is surrounded by his beloved sister, father and mother and all his golf buddies and former colleagues, who have moved on as well. Our father had many hobbies, number one GOLF! Lol! He also enjoyed buying cars, reading about history and politics. He was an excellent gardener, cook, woodworker and active member for many many years at Holly Tree Country Club in Simpsonville, SC. Dad loved to travel and took our mother on so many trips all over the world, throughout their impressive marriage of 66 years! Dad also was an alumni of VA Tech and enjoyed College sports. Go Hokies! Dad was a wonderful Grandfather to my two daughter’s Clare and Ellen. A fun grandfather to Marlee and Zoey. Sadly , dad never got to meet the newest member of our family, his 3rd great grandchild,Nellie Schmidt, who is just 8 months old and lives far away in germany. She came to take his place. Comforting to me and my family. He passed peacefully on Father’s Day, incredibly poignant for an Incredible Man, my Father, the REAL Santa Claus, Hugh Peck Givens, Jr. Rest in Peace , Dad. See you at the Beach! You have always been my HERO. We are SO Blessed to call him DAD. Because of him we have zillions of wonderful fun memories locked in our hearts forever. Love, Becky Boo! ❤️
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Peck was a longtime friend and will be missed by all who knew him. We shared great times on the golf course, gin table, beach trips, and trying to explain to him how to operate an iPad (a real technical challenge for Peck). I will always have fond memories of Peck, and can still hear his infectious laugh, even when I got into his wallet on a small wager he occasionally would entertain. Condolences to Brenda and the family, and RIP Peck! Mike Cornish
