Herbert Vernon Arledge, 84, of Greenville, passed away suddenly at home, Monday, November 22, 2021.
Herbert was born and grew up in Tryon, NC. He was the son of the late Gray and Edith Cantrell Arledge.
Herbert was associated with United 5 & 10, and managed many stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. In 1966, he became district manger and moved to Greenville. Upon his retirement, he owned his own lawn care business.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judy Arledge; daughter, Cindy Arledge Corbin (John) of Greenville; son, Jody Arledge of Greenville; brothers, Charles (Marie) and Bobby (Beverly) Arledge, both of Tryon; Grandchildren, Joshua Gallagher and Amanda Gallagher Tinsley; Great grandchildren, Aleah and Andrew Barrett, Raider Tinsley and Tanner Gallagher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Alice Gay Arledge; brothers, Willie, Hershel and Rex Arledge; and sister, Shirley Arledge.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery West.
