So many fond memories of Granny. She loved me and my kids like family even when we were no longer related. Her love for Jesus and people are an example I will never forget.

Granny was one of the best parts of my childhood. A Proverbs 31 woman full of love for all who were blessed to know her.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are with Granny. She was a beautiful gift to all who met her and a shining light for her Savior. No matter how long it had been she welcomed me with open arms, a huge smile, and genuine love. I sense this was the case with many others who were blessed to have known her. Our family will miss her greatly.

"Aunt Aletha," as we called her, was really my Mother (Jean Vaughn Johannessen's) first cousin. They were close in age, and Aletha would often come to visit the Vaughn family on weekends. She was much loved and her visits were always welcome. For as long as I can remember, Aunt Aletha has been a sweet, steady constant in our family's lore. Despite the joy of her outward demeanor; however, I know that her life has not always been easy but she has always trusted in the Lord and been a rock and a source of strength to us all. Many of us who loved her and looked to her as a model are not able to attend her memorial service so we have exchanged emails back and forth about our remembrances of her. While it is common to speak well of the dead, in Aunt Aletha's case we don't have to fudge. If she wasn't a saint, she was mighty close to it, and we were all blessed and privileged to know her. Besides, when we were emailing back and forth, we were are not speaking of the dead, for surely she is risen!
