Alethia Mae Dill Bagwell, 93, went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Monday, November 19, 2007. Mrs. Bagwell was the wife of the late Curtis Robert Bagwell for 69 years and his widow since 1998. She was born in Anderson County, the daughter of the late Furman Rufus and Dora Dean Dill. She lived on Shady Brook Lane in Greenville County before she became a resident of National Health Care of Mauldin. Her family is grateful for the excellent care that she received from the nursing facility. Mrs. Bagwell was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the Junior Department for many years and was a leader in the Girls Auxiliary of the Women?s Missionary Union. She helped organize and was a charter member of the Forever Young Senior group of the church. She designed and made all types of doll clothes for the public and had a large collection of dolls she enjoyed showing to her customers. She enjoyed doing genealogy research and had written short biography articles on several of her and her husband?s ancestors. Surviving are a son, Otis C. Bagwell and his wife, Betty; daughters, Helen B. McKinney and her husband, Ira Lee, and Ann B. Pace, all of Greenville; a daughter-in-law, Rita R. Bagwell of Easley; grandchildren, Debbie B. Fisher, Rick A. McKinney, Donna B. Hamam, Tim M. Pace and Shannon B. Nimmons; five great -grandchildren; two great- great- grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Pauline D. Johnson of Spartanburg. She was preceded in death by a son, J. Morris Bagwell; a grandson, Casey Bagwell; five brothers, Raymond, Otis, Broadus, George and Paul Dill; and two sisters, Myrtle Hastings and Bertha Phillips. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Rocky Creek Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverend Ken Forrester, the Reverend Stephen Johnson and Chaplain Dion Louw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will be at the McKinney residence, 17 Shady Brook Lane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund or Forever Young Seniors fund of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 1801 Woodruff Road, Greenville, SC 29607.
