Almeta Candler Vaughn

Almeta Candler Vaughn, 86, formerly of 116 Ridgeway Drive, widow of John D. Vaughn, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at NHC, Lexington. Born in Lockhart, SC., she was a daughter of the late George and Sally Towe Candler. Mrs. Vaughn was retired from Sunshine Cleaners and was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Reba Gresham of Columbia; three sisters, Allie Candler of Laurens, Dorsie Fowler of Easley, Pearl King Pritt of Newport News, VA.; and a grandson, David Gresham of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a son, Perry Vaughn. Memorials may be made to Laurel Baptist Church, 2331 Laurens Road, Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 10:30 am at Laurel Baptist Church with visitation to follow. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff of National Health Care, Lexington for their kind and loving care of Mrs. Vaughn during the last two years of her life. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
