Alvin Dean Hollingsworth

Alvin Dean Hollingsworth, 93, died Friday, August 22, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Andrew Brooks and Ida Mae Sloan Hollingsworth. Mr. Hollingsworth was a carpenter with Childers Construction and a former member of East Park Baptist Church for many years. Currently Mr. Hollingsworth was a member of Wren Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife Helen of 73 years, is his daughter, Sara Ferguson of Pelzer, his granddaughter Suzanne Rogers and her husband, Reverend Gary Rogers of Greer; four grandsons, Don Edwards of Greenville, Joe Edwards and his girlfriend Lori of Flowery Branch, GA, Terry Edwards and his girlfriend Norma of Inman, and Dwayne Ferguson and his wife Paula of Loxley, AL. He also leaves five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be Monday, August 25 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown chapel. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Wren Baptist Church, 120 Wren Road, Piedmont, SC 29673. The family will be at the home of Sara Ferguson.
