Anne ?Annie Laurie? Newby Riddle, 89, of 120 Woodland Way, wife of Dr. Herbert E. Riddle, Sr., died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at her residence. Born in Travelers Rest, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Jessie Peden Newby. Mrs. Riddle formerly taught school for 5 years at Slater Marietta Elementary and Parker High School. She was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church where she taught the Fidelis Sunday School class. She attended Furman University and graduated from Winthrop College. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Paul Curlee of Greenville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Herbert E. Riddle, Jr. of Greenville, Dr. William Thomas and Margaret Riddle of Lexington, KY., John Newby Riddle of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Graham Riddle Howle, Will Curlee, Peden Riddle, Annie Lea Riddle, Forrest Riddle, Alex Riddle and Davis Riddle; three great grandchildren, Gray and Perrin Howle and Ava Caroline McPherson; and a sister, Mary Nell Henderson of Marietta, GA. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Glenn Howle and a sister, Elizabeth McDaniel. Memorials may be made to Reedy Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 459 Reedy Fork Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the charity of one? choice. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
