Ansel Forrest Duncan stepped immediately into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 after an extended battle with cancer. Mr. Duncan was born February 17, 1926 to the late Carl Robert Duncan and Fannie Ethel Smith Duncan. After serving two years with the 79th US Army Infantry Division in Germany and Czechoslovakia during WWII, Mr. Duncan returned home and entered the Wholesale Food Business where he spent his entire career as a Manufacturer's Representative, Food Broker and Wholesale Grocer. He was a member of Roper Mountain Baptist Church for the past 70 years and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Brotherhood Director, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. Mr. Duncan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Morrow Duncan; five children, Dr. Mike Duncan and his wife, Debbie, Polly Gantt and her husband, Greg, Pat Duncan and his wife, Beverly, Bobby Duncan and his wife Annette, and Tommy Duncan and his wife, Ruth; and nine grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Elizabeth McCoy Moore, Joan McMakin, Lilly Hayes and two brothers, Alvin Duncan and James Duncan. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lydia Gabrielle Duncan; two sisters, Gladys Whitt Freeman and Marceil Sellers Edmunds; and a brother, Donald Duncan. Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel with the Reverend Randy Harling officiating. Burial will follow in Roper Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Roper Mountain Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville, SC 29615. The family will be at the residence. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I admired and respected Ansel very much and know that he loved his family dearly. I pray that you will find comfort in Christ and the great life Ansel lived, remembering the good times.

My husband, Henry and I were in the same Sunday School class with Ansel and Margie back in the Spring of 2006. When my husband died in May, 2006, I moved back to NC to live with my daughter. I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Ansel very long but

sorry for your loss, but knowing He is in Heaven You will be able to see him again. no more suffering. no pain. just rely in God's grace to see you few the days ahead.
