Anthony Nabih “Tony” Awwadieh, 37, died at home peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, September 19, 2022 at home.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of Nabih (Bill) and Efaf Talhami Awwadieh, who were the founders of Subs & Clubs, located behind the Haywood Mall.

Tony was the most huggable and lovable person you could ever meet. He was rewarded by Riverside High School for the most infectious laugh that could put a smile on anyone’s face!

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Sally Sparkman and her husband, Jarrad, and Mona Awwadieh; maternal grandmother, Soaad Talhami; a nephew, Anthony Dempsey Sparkman; and a niece, Ava Sparkman.

The memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Rafka Maronite Catholic Church, 1215 SC-14, Greer, SC 29650 or to www.als.org.

Tony was a wonderful young man. He brought so much joy to his family and to all who knew him. If you were fortunate enough to receive his smile or a message from his eyes then you received a true blessing. I thank the Lord for knowing Tony and his dear family- a family who serves and gives to others and showed the greatest love to their sweet Tony.

I am so sorry to learn of Tony’s passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him several years ago, and working with him on many occasions. It always made my day brighter when I got to see him, and your family. He was blessed to have such a loving home, and a family that truly cared for him.
