Arthur Ralph Rollins, Sr

March 15, 1924 - July 8, 2008
Arthur Ralph Rollins, Sr., 84, of 305 Meridian Avenue, husband of Selma Gregory Rollins, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Inman, SC, he was the son of the late Bernice H. and Myra Edwards Rollins. Mr. Rollins was a retired mechanic from the US Government. He was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was also very active in cooking and helping with events. He was a WW II veteran having served during the Pacific Theater with the 864th Aviation Engineers. He was a member of the American Legion and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Charlotte R. Watson and her husband, Doug, of Taylors; three sons, Robert Donald Rollins and his wife, Marie, of Edwards, MS, Arthur R Rollins, Jr. and his wife, Diann, of Simpsonville, Johnny Gilbert Rollins and his wife, Becky of Taylors; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Howard Marcus Rollins, two sisters, Ruby Rogers and Pearl Pack and a brother, R.E. Rollins. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Hampton Heights Baptist Church, 2511 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hampton Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial gardens. The family will be at the residence.
