James Aubrey Carver, 81, beloved husband of Melody Carver, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late James and Opal Dykes Carver. Aubrey attended Parker High School and worked for Michelin for 23 years in the automotive industry. After retiring and moving to Dothan, Alabama, Aubrey resumed working and retired for the second time from Alabama Electric.
Mr. Carver was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Alabama, where he served as a Deacon and volunteered many hours in service to the church and its parishioners.
Aubrey was a "joiner" who passionately served in several organizations to be of service to others. He was a past member of the Lion's Club of Greenville, a life member of Brandon Masonic Lodge #279, and a member of Hejaz Shriners of Greenville and Alcazar Shriners, Valley of Dothan Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree KCCH, who volunteered countless hours as a 'Road Runner' providing transportation for children in Alabama and Florida panhandle in need of treatment at the Greenville Shriners Hospital for Children. Aubrey also volunteered as a Fire Fighter in Greenville. During his leisure time, Aubrey was happiest outdoors and enjoyed music, gardening, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children, Donna Carver and her wife, Beth Rusch, of Greenville and Steve Carver of Greenville; three grandchildren, Ashley Navarro, Nick Navarro, Dalton Carver; three sisters, Judy (Carl) Van Natta, Mona Perella, and Sherrell Carver; a brother, Mike (Marie) Carver; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children – Greenville at 950 W Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 .
