B Jack Foster

B. Jack Foster, 96, of 242 McDaniel Avenue, husband of Louise Quillen Foster, died Thursday, February 21, 2008 at St. Francis, Downtown. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Bothwell Jeter and Julia McCarrell Foster. Mr. Foster was the owner of Bell Plaza Shopping Center, Bell Laundry and Cleaners, Bell Linen Service and former owner of Greenville Spinners Baseball Team. He was Past Potentate of Hejaz Temple of the Shrine, Captain of The Marching Patrol, Captain of the Mobile Color Guard, the Royal Order of Jesters, member of the Walden Lodge # 274 A.F.M., the Greenville Lions Club, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a United States National Guard veteran and member of St. James Episcopal Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 73 years, are a daughter, Joy Foster of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Foster of Greenville; four grandsons, Tommy Foster and his wife, Shounda, John Foster and his wife, Sandy, Jack Foster and Bobby Coker; a granddaughter, Suzanne Withington and her husband, Jimmy; five great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and James R. Lawrence of Greenville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Carol and William R. Foster. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Private entombment will be in the Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum of Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
