Barbara Ann McAlister, 81, wife of James McAlister, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020.

Born in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Wilma Queen Raines.

Mrs. McAlister retired from the Greenville County School System as a Cafeteria Worker. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Mike McAlister, his daughter, Tara Nicole McAlister and partner, Christopher Jackson and their children, Carlee Jackson, and Braiden Jackson; daughter, April Walters and husband, William Walters, III and their children, Billy Walters, Morgan Walters, and Jason Walters; daughter, Karen McAlister and her daughter, Renee Dickerson and husband, Johnny and their children, JT and Nate Dickerson; and brothers, Dean Raines, and Bill Raines.

Due to the CDC and State of South Carolina public guidelines for social distancing, there will be no public visitation period for the family to receive friends. For those who wish to pay their respects, the body will lie in state Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 31st at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel followed by burial in Graceland Cemetery, West. The family appreciates those in attendance following the CDC recommendations on wearing a mask and social distancing.
