Barbara Christine Walker Wuestenberg, 84, widow of Wayne Raymond Wuestenberg of Cleveland Forest, died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at her residence. Born in Greenville on November 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lewis J. "Dutch" and Blanche Foshee Walker. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1940, where she was the first female to study mechanical drawing. In 1944, she graduated from Winthrop College with a BA degree in art, where she was in the May Court her senior year. Upon graduation, she worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority, where she drew maps for the invasion of Normandy. Mrs. Wuestenberg was an active member of the Crescent Garden Club and the Crescent Community Club. For over 70 years, she was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, was past president of the Women of the Church, Chancel Choir member and a member of the bell ringers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Marie W. and Meadors Tanner; grandson, Jennings McKittrick Tanner; sister-in-law, Marilyn Largent of Boston, MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, First Lieutenant Lewis Curtis Wuestenberg, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held Tuesday at Noon at Second Presbyterian Church, 105 River St., Greenville. Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church bell ringers fund or the Charles Amicy Mission Fund, c/o Second Presbyterian Church, 105 River St., Greenville, SC. "Who can find a virtuous woman?
