Berry Lee Burgess

Berry ?Pop? Lee Burgess, 82, of 38 Second Avenue, Poe Mill, husband of Grace Jones Burgess, died Friday, May 19, 2006 at his residence. Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary Boyter Burgess. Mr. Burgess was retired from Winn Dixie and was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Joyce Roper, Margaret Turner, Edna Cagle; three sons, Donald Berry Burgess, Wayne Burgess, and Eddie Burgess all of Greenville; a number of half brothers and half sisters; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Burgess and a sister Elmer Hembree. Memorials may be made to Cedar Lane Baptist Church, 203 Marion Street, Greenville, SC 29611. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 3:00 pm at Cedar Lane Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence.
