Betty Ann Smith 69, departed for Heaven, Friday, December 31, 2021.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Betty was the daughter of the late Louise Strange Smith and William Thomas Smith.
Betty graduated from Parker High School in 1970. She maintained close friendships with her many Parker friends and enjoyed Parker reunions and gatherings, especially at Ocean Drive, North Myrtle Beach. Betty spent her entire working career at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph/AT&T, retiring after 46 years. Her greatest joy and love was spending time with her family, especially nieces and nephews.
Betty is survived by her loving family, a son, Samuel “Sammy” Legree Hood, Jr. and his wife Angie, both of Moncks Corner, SC; a sister Martha Smith Duncan and her husband Gary; a brother William Thomas “Tommy” Smith and his wife Marion, all of Greenville. Betty’s beloved nieces and nephews are China Adrianne Duncan, Tyler Gary Duncan and his wife Christy, Christopher David Smith and his wife Mandy, and Derek Thomas Smith. Her other blessings were great-nieces, Kamryn Raelee Burnett, and Macy Alanna Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Michael “Mike Smith (1960-1997), a niece, Ashley Nicole Smith (1992-1992).
Her family and extended family live in close proximity to the family home on Louise Avenue and the door was always open. The Family is grateful for the years to enjoy, love and care for her.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Graceland West Cemetery.
Betty’s family wishes to extend thanks to her many friends for the loving care they were always quick to provide and to Open Arms Hospice of Saint Francis Hospital.
