Boyce Welton Hamby

Boyce W. Hamby, 90, died April 28, 2006 at Oakmont East Living Center. For the past 3 years Mr. Hamby had been a resident of the Willows in Easley. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Miller Welton and Ludie Smith Hamby. Mr. Hamby was retired from Sitton Buick in Greenville, where he was a leader in sales for more than 30 years. His many loyal customers will remember him by his hat that he always wore. He was a member of Leawood Baptist Church and the Fidelus Sunday School class which he loved dearly. Even after he could no longer drive, Boyce walked to church to worship his God and fellowship with his friends. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Becki and Derrell Hunter of Easley; a stepdaughter, Margie Butler and her husband William of Greenville; a stepson, Allen Robertson and his wife Sandra of Travelers Rest; seven grandchildren, Mike Hunter, Angie Case, Rex Robinson, Teresa Hammond, Mia Copogna, Michelle Kwast, and Alison Sentell; eleven great grandchildren, Tyler Riddle, Corie Riddle, Tyler Case, John Michael Hammond, Joshua Hammond, Emily Hammond, Meredith Kwast, Abbagale Sentell, Austin Cole Sentell, Ashley Howard, and Hannah Bratcher. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Sorgee Hamby and his second wife, Lila McAlister Hamby. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:45 until 2:45 PM. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West. The family will be at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Becki and Derrell Hunter, 1231 Crestview Road, Easley.
