Calvin E. West

Calvin E. West, 79, of 18 Coolbrook Drive, died on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at National Healthcare Center in Mauldin, SC. Born in Hot Springs, NC, he was a son of the late George Martin and Eunice Adaline Fowler West. Mr. West served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Pilot Freight Lines after thirty-seven years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Edna West, of the home; two daughters, Deloria Penland of Piedmont, and Jean Knighton of Wellford; a son, Calvin ?Buck? West, of Honea Path; a sister, Gladys Cook, of South Jordan, UT; four brothers, Boyd and Boyce West of Gaffney, George West of Hickory, NC, and Edward West of Wooden, TX; seven grandchildren, Gwen Jones, Beverly Templeton, Dale Penland, Russell Penland, Alex Wheeler, Lorrie West Duvall, and Christopher Sailers; twenty-one great grandchildren; and a pet dog, Cody. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615. The family is at the residence.
