Carlene Phillips Grayson, 66, beloved wife of James Grayson, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Myles Phillips (survived by stepmother Susie).

In addition to her loving husband Jim, she is survived by her daughter Allison, son Bryan, brother Gary Phillips, stepbrother Jonny Thompson, sister-in-law Mary Grayson Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded by her brother Donnie Phillips, sister in-law Beth Phillips, stepsister, Emily Thompson, father and mother in-law Hayden and Virginia Grayson, her nephew Thomas Monts, and brother in-law Jerry Thomas.

Carlene was a loving mother and friend. She spread her warmth, smiles, and love to all those she met. She was a dedicated member of Advent United Methodist Church. In addition, she was a great cook, enjoyed travel, nature, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.

There will be a celebration of Carlene’s life at Advent United Methodist Church on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. All friends and family are welcome to come and there will be a gathering at the Grayson home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Emmanuel’s Hammer, Mental Health America of Greenville County, Advent UMC, or your charitable organization of choice.

Jim, Allyson, and Bryan how we will miss having Carlene as a friend and part of our Glens community. We have such fond memories of seeing and talking with her, especially when she was out with Rosie. Your devoted care and love of your wife and mother was so evident over the past couple of years. May God strengthen and comfort you in the coming days.

My heart goes out to the Grayson family. I knew Carlene through Talbots and she was always so welcoming and kind.

Carlene was a dear friend, neighbor for more than 23 years. We both moved to Mason Ohio in 1999 and quickly became friends. I remember Carlene as a devoted Mom to Bryan & Allison and her Husband Jim.
